Full restoration of an F.H. Ayres rocking horse from Essex; structural repair, full repaint and painted stand.
This F.H. Ayres rocking horse arrived in poor structural condition. The stand had been reconstructed with newer wood, so it was not possible to return to the original; we agreed with the client to repaint it in a bold colour to match the colour themes of the horse.
After a thorough structural repair, the horse was re-gessoed, dapple hand-painted back to the F.H. Ayres house style with traditional dappling, and fitted with new hand-stitched leather tack. The stand was repaired and painted in its new colour.
The completed horse was returned to a delighted family.
